Excellent summer weather has positioned fish on their normal summer locations. Bass bite continues to be good, muskies are being muskies, and walleyes are set to reopen this weekend.
Smallmouth are scattered, with the most consistent daytime bite going on large rock structures in 6'-14'. Swimbaits, ned rigs, and drop shots, are all excellent choices for mid-summer smallmouth. Try fishing topwaters in the shallows during the low light.
Muskie bite is relatively good for Mille Lacs in recent years. Best action in my boat has been on bucktails and topwaters in deep weeds 10'-14'. Try changing it up with a gluide bait, gluide baits are perfect for moving lethargic fish.
Mille Lacs walleye reopener this weekend! Bobbers and leeches should provide good fishing on the deeper gravel bars 24'+.
